Our FOUNDATION BOYS
On this page, you can see the dogs that have shaped our beginning. They are a very big part of what we have today and I can still see their influence. Thank you Torrin & Remus.
FERNWOOD QUEST (IMP UK) 'Torrin'
Torrin was our first experience with the complicated (and risky - as we were soon to find out!) process of importing dogs. He was bred by Michael and Maureen Smith of FERNWOOD ROTTWEILERS in the UK, a small and very well-known kennel. His sire was HIS MASTERS VOICE AT POTTERSPRIDE "Jester" and his dam was FERNWOOD LACE.
Torrin came to Australia at age 5 months and unfortunately suffered a testicular torsion, which was not diagnosed in quarantine, necessitating its removal due to necrosis, the day after his release. This, tragically, meant that he could not be shown. After his recovery, he was placed in a loving pet home, where he lived the life of luxury! Torrin had a Hip Score of 0 (0:0) and 0:0 elbows.
Torrin was mated to our AUST CH KALRISSAN ICE ON FIRE "Camilla" producing 3 champions from this first litter: AUST CH KALRISSAN FIRESTARTER "Hanya" , AUST CH KALRISSAN HEARTS ON FIRE "Tria" and AUST CH KALRISSAN TOUCH THE FIRE "Tyrus". Torrin's influence is still seen in my dogs today as he also sired KALRISSAN KA PUA AHI, dam of AUST CH HAWAIIs HALE O SHEBA (IMP USA). You can see these dogs on their own pages.

MULTI V RATED - MULTI BISS/ BIS AUSTRALIAN GRAND CHAMPION FERNWOOD TERMINAL VELOCITY (IMP UK) 'Remus'

There are not enough words to describe this dog. He was truly the whole package: a delight to live with and the showdog most people can only dream about. We were very lucky to have had the opportunity to purchase Remus as a 5 month old puppy from Michael and Maureen Smith in the UK. They were originally going to keep him and offered us his older brother JJ. But there was something about that young puppy, and after long discussions (and the fact that I would have chained myself to their gate to get him!!!) they agreed to let Remus come to Australia instead. They kept JJ, who went on to become ENG CH FERNWOOD STRIKER, a force to be reckoned with in his own right.
Remus boasts a pedigree of some the most influential kennels in England, and arguably, the world: Fernwood, Poirot, Potterspride, Chesara and Yorlander. His sire was ENG CH FERNWOOD LIONHEART "Benson" , a full brother to ENG & IRISH CH FERNWOOD FIRECRACKER and ENG CH FERNWOOD FALLON. Remus' dam FERNWOOD GENEVEVE is sired by ENG CH POIROT WHAM and she is a full sister to ENG CH FERNWOOD HORATIO, INT CH FERNWOOD GEISHA and ENG CH FERNWOOD GANEMEDE. His grandsire ENG CH FERNWOOD ENFORCER "Karl" needs no introduction, siring champions in 5 countries.
Remus had an outstanding show career, beginning at the age of 11 months. He had his Australian Champion conformation title by 13 months and never looked back. As far as I am aware, he is the youngest Australian Grand Champion Rottweiler, gaining this prestigous title before he was 3 1/2 years old. He ammassed nearly 2500 points before retiring at the age of 8 1/2 years when unfortunately, he was diagnosed with bone cancer. Up until this point, he was still seen winning Best In Groups.
He won Best in Show at the 1999 and 2000 QUEENSLAND ROTTWEILER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS and was V rated twice before his second birthday. In fact, he only ever received V ratings at specialty level. He had 11 Best In Shows (3 of these at specialty level) , many Reserve In Shows and we have lost count of the Best in Groups or Class in Group wins.
His critique under Walter Werner (Germany) reads:
Large, strong dog of excellent type. Strong head with short and broad muzzle. Dark eyes. Correct ear carriage. Very dark pigmentation. Short and strong neck. Deep and broad chest. Straight back. Muscular hindquarters with medium angulation. Correct coat. Straight in front. Red/ brown markings. Excellent movement. Scissor bite.
GRADE: V1 - DOG CC, BEST IN SHOW, OPEN IN SHOW

Remus will never be forgotten and my fondest memories of him are lying on his mat beside my 1.3 kg, 15 year-old Chihuahua "Kisha", whom he adored.

His value to us lives on in our young dogs today. We have semen frozen from this dog. In the near future, we hope to own a Remus son or daughter.
